HOUSTON, TX (NBC/KPRC) — An 11-year-old Texas boy died after being stabbed to death while walking home from school.
Police say young Josue Flores was killed Tuesday afternoon as he walked home from his Houston middle school.
According to witnesses, the sixth grader was walking down the street when a man walking in the opposite direction suddenly crossed the street and repeatedly stabbed him.
Police say the attack was unprovoked.
They have issued a murder warrant for 31-year-old Che Lajuan Calhoun.
Police haven’t said whether the boy and Calhoun knew each other.
The boy’s family is struggling to understand when the young boy would become a target.
“He don’t have a phone. He don’t own an iPad, laptop, anything. The only electronics he ever had was provided by the school,” said Josue’s brother-in-law, Isidro Barrerra.
