Wendy’s to offer self-serve kiosks to some stores, report says

(WESH) – Your next order for a Frosty may be done through a self-serve kiosk and not a human.

By the end of the year, thousands of Wendy’s restaurants around the country will be offered touchscreen ordering displays, according to a report published this week in Investor’s Business Daily.

Each franchise-operated store will ultimately make the decision as to whether to use the device.

“The majority of Wendy’s restaurants are franchise-operated. We are in pilot now with self-service order kiosks, which we expect to make available for installation by our franchisees later in 2016. Whether they choose to do so will be up to them,” company spokesman Bob Bertini told Eater.

The move is in response to the push to increase the minimum wage.
