Police: Tampa man arrested after raping woman behind building

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Tampa Police arrested a man accused of raping a woman behind a business early Saturday morning.

The incident happened behind a convenience store on South Dale Mabry Highway around 4:38 a.m. The victim told police that she saw Andrea Dakota Lawson, 23, inside and that he followed her while she was walking home.

According to TPD, Lawson brandished a knife and took the victim behind a nearby building where he raped her. Tampa Police detectives were able to identify Lawson from the victim’s description and from security camera footage from the store.

TPD took Lawson into custody without incident and have charged him with sexual battery with a deadly weapon and armed kidnapping.
