Tampa Bay Hurricane Expo underway at MOSI

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – The largest hurricane expo in the Tampa Bay area kicked off in Tampa this weekend.

This year the national expert Dr. Phil Klotzbach, the author of Colorado State University’s hurricane predictions and successor to the late Dr. William Gray, will answer guests’ questions and share his insights. Meteorologists from every Tampa Bay area TV station and the National Weather Service, including WFLA Storm Team 8 Chief Meteorologist Steve Jerve, and local disaster response experts will explain how to best protect your family and home.

Vendors will present safety products and demonstrate how to retrofit your home for safety.

Children can enjoy family-friendly games from the Lightning, Rays and Buccaneers and climb aboard a dozen emergency vehicles.

Parking and admission to the expo are free. The expo is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at MOSI. You can also enjoy a special offer for $5 admission to MOSI (normally $26.95 for adults) to get access to all of MOSI’s 450 hands-on exhibits until 6 p.m. Admission includes Disasterville, the Kids In Charge! children’s science center, 3D Printing: The Exhibition, and more. $5 admission also includes the incredible new IMAX® movie A Beautiful Planet, filmed by astronauts in space, showing in the Florida Hospital IMAX® DOME Theatre.
