ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – The family of a man and young girl killed in a 2014 plane crash in Venice remembered them Friday.

Rebecca Irizarry and her daughter, Ava, look back fondly on their family members. It’s tough for them to relive that July day on Caspersen Beach when a plane made an emergency landing and struck Ommy and Oceana Irizzary.

Ommy died on scene; Oceana passed away the next day at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

The family takes solace knowing both Ommy and Oceana live on in others. Ommy’s tissue was donated and Oceana’s organs were given away as well.

The hospital recognized that generosity Friday morning.

Rebecca was recently contacted by the parents of a little boy, who said Oceana’s liver was given to him. She tells News Channel 8 she hopes to meet the boy in the near future. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
