Meet the LLS Boy of the Year, Carlos

The Leukemia Lymphoma Society is nearing the completion of its annual “Man and Woman of the Year” competition. For the past 10 weeks, local business people have been competing to raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society – Suncoast Chapter. The “winners” of the competition are the Man & Woman who raise the most money. The competition ends May 7th at the Grand Finale Gala, Hilton Hotel Downtown Tampa.

The Boy & Girl of the Year are local children currently in remission from blood cancer who serve as motivation and inspiration to Man & Woman of the Year candidates in their competition to raise funds and win the titles.

Carlos Hernandez was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in 2011 at age 9. He says his diagnosis brought his family closer together in the fight to get him well. The family’s strong faith helped them through the next three years, and on October 14th, 2014, Carlos had his last chemo treatment. He remains in remission!
