Makeover Mondays in May: Ellyne

Ellyne Myers describes herself as a youthful 59 years old. Born and raised in Tampa, Ellyne likes to volunteer, throw beads off the Krewe of Augustina float during parades, and play Mah Jongg. But Ellyne doesn’t have much free time – she’s a mother of two daughters, and caregiver for her husband, Rick. He has a frontal temporal lobe degeneration which is a form of dementia. Rick was diagnosed nine years ago at the age of 50. Ellyne says she finds joy in seeing him smile and laugh.
Ellyne describes her current style as the epitome of comfortable casual. She’s had the same wash-and-go hairstyle for 30 years! She wears little to no makeup. Her daughter Allisa nominated Ellyne for the makeover because she feels her Mom puts effort and energy into others, but not herself. She has a big birthday coming up this year, and would love to surprise everyone with her new look. She’s also having both of her knees replaced, and her motto will be “new knees, new me.”
