MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – Rescue crews found two fishermen on Monday morning who had gone missing on the Manatee River.

The men, Thomas Batten, 33, from St. Petersburg and Ryan Killoran, 27, from Bradenton, went fishing Sunday. They departed in their 22-foot boat from the 59th St. boat ramp in Bradenton at sunrise. They were going to fish for Tarpon in the Manatee River. Around 6 p.m. they said they’d fish for a couple more hours. That was the last time they were seen. Their friend notified the authorities around midnight that the men never returned.

Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission with Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and Bradenton Police Department began searching early Monday morning. The search was expanded to Ana Maria Island and Passage Key.

The men were found safe on Monday morning at the Crows Nest Marina in Venice. The USCG said the men ran out of fuel.
