RiverFest continues Sunday in downtown Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Second Annual RiverFest kicked off Saturday offering family-friendly fun while highlighting Tampa’s cultural institutions, local music and restaurants.

There are events and activities throughout the weekend at all five parks lining the Tampa Riverwalk, which runs from historic Tampa Heights through downtown Tampa to the Channel District. A few of the new events this year include the Pan Am International Dragon Boat Races, Gasparilla SUP Invasion (paddle board race) and live chalk art demonstrations. On Saturday night, the first ever ‘Balloon Glow’ featuring a display of illuminated of hot air balloons took place at Curtis Hixon Park.

Attendees can even travel by water to access different parts of the Riverwalk this year. RiverFest has partnered with the Pirate Water Taxi to offer free service all weekend to participants who have a Fest Band which is purchased w/ food and beverage. Maps will be provided to show boarding locations of the water taxi.

The event serves as a fundraising program for Friends of the Riverwalk, a local nonprofit that works to improve and enhance the Tampa Riverwalk in a variety of ways, including events, programming and activation.

The events and entertainment are free and open to the public. Vendor items will be available for purchase. RiverFest continues Sunday. Check the list of events below to see what’s happening.

Saturday / Sunday – Join Busch Gardens at RiverFest with live animal displays plus live chalk artist illustrations (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
