HAINES CITY, FL (WFLA) – New surveillance video captures the scary moments Clemente Gandy robbed the Sunoco gas station Friday in Haines City.

Police said Gandy rushed in the store on U.S. Highway 27 with a gun, just after 9 p.m. He pointed the weapon in one mans’ face and ordered everyone to the ground. The clerk would not talk on camera, but did tell 8 On Your Side, it was one of the scariest moments of her life as the gun was turned on her.

Gandy demanded money from both registers and then left. He crashed moments later down the road, while being pursued by police.

This was the seventh store Gandy had robbed in eight days. His crime spree spanned from Haines City to Osceola County. Gas station owners like Rocky Rachacondn, are relieved.

“Haines City police, they work had. Good people work hard to get him,” he said.

He was robbed by Gandy Tuesday.

“He shot three times in my store,” he said.

The bullet missed him by just inches. Rocky said he didn’t know Gandy had a gun.

“I’m fixing the chips. I didn’t see him. He’s shouting, I need money, I need money. And I didn’t see his gun. He put a towel on the gun. I didn’t see, I thought he was joking,” said the gas station owner.

But Gandy was not kidding.

“When he shoot me, I was shocked and I put my hands to my chest. Then God saved my life,” he said.

Gandy remains in the hospital for the injuries he suffered during the crash. Detectives continue to work on his charges.
