KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Officers responding to the scene of a crash on Delaware Avenue on Tuesday say they had to take a mother into custody for drunken driving.

Kenmore Police Department officers say they hit the scene and realized one of the drivers involved in the crash showed symptoms of being drunk. Further interviews with 38-year-old Cara Toadvine led police to test her sobriety, which they say she failed.

In subsequent tests, Toadvine reportedly registered a .37 percent blood alcohol content — over four times over the legal limit.

Officers who interviewed her say she told police she was on her way to pick up her children before she crashed.

Toadvine faces four charges, which she will answer in Kenmore Village Court on May 10. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
