Lightning face Red Wings in first playoff game Wednesday

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings will begin their opening round playoff series Wednesday. The game begins at 7 p.m. at the Amalie Arena and will be broadcast on NBC Sports.

“The Tampa Bay Lightning have suffered a number of injuries to key players over the last couple of weeks but are finally showing signs of getting healthier,” Bryan Burns writes on the team’s website.

Victor Hedman, Ryan Callahan and Nikita Kucherov, who have all been injured, practiced Monday at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum, according to Burns. All three players wore regular jerseys.

Tyler Johnson, dealing with an upper body injury, was not present. Team captain Steven Stamkos and defenseman Anton Stralman will likely not play in the first round, Burns writes.
