TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Crews battled a three-alarm fire Wednesday night at the Amphitheatre nightclub in Ybor City. The fire broke out around 8 p.m. at the club, located at 1609 E 7th Ave.

Firefighters focused on preventing the fire from spreading to the attached businesses. As of 12 a.m., officials said the fire was confined to the Amphitheatre.

One firefighter had to be treated for smoke inhalation. He was taken to the hospital but is expected to recover.

There are no reported civilian injuries.

It is believed the fire started with a welder working on the roof. The welder may have been working on a bracket for a disco ball.
