MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) – A Florida woman is pleading for compassion after her mother’s ashes were stolen over the weekend.

Andrea Fields is in the process of moving and had her mother’s ashes in her vehicle.  Early Saturday morning, around 4: 00 a.m., someone broke into her parked car along Northwest 54th Street and 31st Avenue and stole the remains along with several other items, including clothing and shoes, according to WSVN.

Fields says those other items aren’t her main concern – but the ashes are irreplaceable.

“Every day I kissed that urn, because that’s mine. That’s my mother,” she said.

Fields says her single remaining picture of her mother was attached to the urn.

“The other things they took are materialistic; they can be replaced, but my mother cannot be replaced. That’s all I have left of her, and that’s what I want people to understand. It’s just not fair.”

Fields has spent the last few days desperately searching the area, including area dumpster, for her mother’s remains.   “If you threw her away, go back to where you threw her away,” she told WSVN. “Even if it’s not in the box, even if it’s just the bag of ashes, go back and get it, please.”

If you have any information on this theft, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.

It’s the second time in recent days that something like this has happened. Last week, a Tampa Bay area woman is in shock after her house was burglarized and her valuables were stolen. The St. Petersburg woman lost her grandfather, Harry Wilt, last year. As if that weren’t bad enough, his ashes are now gone.

They were stolen by the crooks who ransacked Morales’ house.
