WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A teen suspected in the armed carjacking of a woman in a Walgreens parking lot earlier this week is in custody.

18 year-old William Bradley Summerlin was identified as the suspect who carjacked a woman outside of a Winter Haven Walgreens on March 1. He was arrested on Friday morning.

Investigators say shortly after midnight on March 1, 50-year old Sandra Hunter stopped at a Walgreens at 705 1st St. S in Winter Haven to pick up a gift card. She was texting on her cell phone when 2 males forced her out of her car at gunpoint, then took off with the car. The carjacking was recorded by surveillance cameras.

She was unhurt and went inside the store to call 911.

Four hours later, a trooper spotted the stolen car and tried to stop it in St. John’s County, near St. Augustine. The car crashed in the median and three people ran off. Two were caught, but Summerlin got away.

On March 3, Winter Haven Police Department detectives received information that Summerlin was headed to the Lake Wales area. On the morning of March 4, detectives found out that Summerlin was at the Grove Motel located on Scenic Highway in Lake Wales.

Winter Haven detectives along with the Lake Wales Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the motel. Summerlin saw the police presence and initially ran back inside of the motel. A short while later, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Summerlin, who had a warrant for his arrest stemming from February 2016 charges of Resisting With Violence, Violation of Injunction and Battery on Officer/Firefighter, complained of chest pain and was taken to a local medical facility. He will be booked into the Polk County Jail after he receives medical clearance.

Summerlin is being charged with Armed Robbery and Armed Burglary.

Nineteen year-old John Martin Crist remains in custody in St. John’s County. Christ is the second person seen in the video getting into the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle. He was captured immediately after the crash.
