Cockfighting ring broken up in Hillsborough County

LITHIA, FL (WFLA) – Deputies with Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a cockfighting ring in Hillsborough County on Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of a cockfighting ring at 10239 Lyons Ave. in Lithia. When they arrived at the scene, a dozen men fled into the nearby woods.

Deputies reported seeing a cockfighting ring with several live and dead caged chickens, along with weights, spurs and a scoreboard.

HCSO is currently working with the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center to deal with the live chickens found at the scene.

There have been no arrests.
