NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A school bus scuffle captured on cell phone video appears to show more than just students involved in a fight.
The fight took place last Friday on a LEAD Public Schools bus taking students to Brick Church Prep Middle School.
In the chaos in the video, students can be seen punching and pushing each other. But in the background, a grown woman can also be seen throwing punches. A Metro Police report details the incident.
The woman seen in the video told police that once her daughter boarded the bus, a fight erupted. That woman, whose name is withheld because no charges were filed, told police the bus driver didn’t do anything to stop the fight so she entered the bus to pull the girls off her daughter.
The video has since made its way to the parents of other students. One mother, who agreed to interview with News 2 on the condition that her face was not shown, said she couldn’t believe what she saw.
“Wow. It’s like she doesn’t care about them being kids,” said the mother.
Since the incident, some of the students involved were suspended from school and from riding the bus.
A statement from LEAD Public Schools addressed the incident:
“A school bus must be a safe place for our students, staff and drivers. Police were notified immediately when this issue occurred and we have cooperated with their investigation. We have no further comment at this time as we understand this is an ongoing police matter.”
