911 problem fixed in Sarasota Co.

UPDATE: 911 service has been restored. The Sarasota County lines are fully operational.

SARASOTA COUNTY,  Fla. (WFLA) — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday afternoon that Verizon is having issues with its 911 circuits.

For that reason, callers may experience problems connecting to 911.

In the meantime, the following alternate 911 lines should be used:

(941) 343-1140
(941) 343-1141
(941) 343-1142
(941) 343-1143
(941) 343-1144
(941) 343-1145

Citizens may get a busy tone or automated message if they dial 911. Those responses are sent from Verizon and individual providers.

The Sarasota County Public Safety Communications Center does not send those messages.
