Power restored to most after large Pinellas outage

UPDATE: As of 8 a.m., power has been restored to most customers in Pinellas County, according to Duke Energy.

UPDATE: Power has been restored to most residents in the Brentwood Estates area of Clearwater. According to Duke Energy, 93 people are still without power around N Martin Luther King Ave and N Myrtle Ave.

Thousands of Duke Energy customers were left without power in Clearwater and St. Petersburg Tuesday morning.

According to Duke Energy, 3,840 customers were without power as of 6:15 a.m. in St. Petersburg, surrounding Gandy Blvd right over the Gandy Bridge. The second major outage is in Clearwater in the Brentwood Estates area. Duke says 2,127 customers are without power here as of 6:25 a.m.

Duke Energy says most of the outages were caused by the storms which came through the area Tuesday morning.
