Red Tailed Hawk found near death now a classroom star

LARGO, FL ­– The Narrows Environmental Education Center welcomes a new female red tailed hawk Nike.

Named after the Greek goddess of victory, Nike was found nearly dead with a broken wing and weighing only 1.5 pounds. After a long recovery at Rick’s Raptor Recovery, Nike was transferred to the Center and now weighs over two pounds.

At approximately three years old, Nike has a very calm disposition and has enjoyed being shown in the classroom.

You can visit Nike and the other birds of prey seven days a week from sun up to sun down in their outdoor enclosures.
