ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — Orlando police say evidence left in an apartment complex parking lot Monday afternoon indicates a full term baby was born and discarded. Now, they’re asking for help finding the newborn.
Officers were called to the Willow Bend Apartments for a report of a placenta and afterbirth found in the parking lot.
Homicide and crime scene investigators arrived at the scene, and multiple teams of dogs and searchers canvassed the area, including every dumpster. They were ultimately unsuccessful in finding the baby, dubbed “Baby Willow.”
Authorities said they later determined the identity of the mother, who admitted to giving birth to a baby girl. Further details, including the name of the mother, were not released.
Anyone who was in the area and saw a black 31-year-old woman, 5 feet 4 inches tall with a slim build, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Monday is asked to contact the Orlando Police Department at (321) 235-5300.
