Elementary school in Brandon evacuated after report of possible fire

Students at Mintz Elementary School in Brandon were evacuated on Tuesday morning.

BRANDON, Fla. (WFLA) — A Brandon elementary school was evacuated on Tuesday morning after a possible fire was reported.

Firefighters responded to Mintz Elementary School around 11:40 a.m.

A Hillsborough County Schools spokesperson said that someone reported a possible fire in the ductwork located on the second floor of the school. Students and staff were evacuated.

Firefighters searched the school and did not find any signs of a fire. Around 12:15 p.m, students and staff were allowed back into the school.

Mintz Elementary School is located at 1510 Heather Lakes Blvd. in Brandon.
