Flight headed to Tampa hit by van at Boston’s Logan Airport

BOSTON – A Jet Blue flight that was Tampa-bound has been reportedly hit by an unattended van at Boston’s Logan Airport.

Flight 891 was set to take off for Tampa at 6:45 a.m. on Friday. The captain told passengers that the plane suffered damage, and passengers will have to be moved to a new jet.

The replacement plane for the flight took off around 7:30 a.m. and will now be arriving at TIA at 10:30 a.m.

According to WHDH, the NBC affiliate in Boston, a passenger on the flight said, “There was a big jolt that moved the plane up and down. The captain jumped up and originally said they thought it was a landing gear collapse, but quickly realized they’d been hit.”

The passenger said, “The issue was the truck driver got out and the vehicle re-engaged and rolled forward, or was never in park. The baggage crew working the flight worked fast to stop the truck from rolling further and causing more damage.”

WHDH contributed to this report.
