TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A second victim has died after a weekend shooting in a Tampa club.
As the music pulsed inside Club Rayne at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, a dancer came off the stage to scream at a man about fighting inside the club.
The man captured the moment on his cell phone camera and sent it out for anyone to see on Periscope.
As the dancer screamed, the pulsing music was pierced by the sound of several gun shots. The camera fell to the ground; the man holding it had been shot.
Marvin Lancaster III, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tampa police announced Tuesday a second man, Christopher Houston, 20, died from injuries he sustained in the shooting.
Six others were shot. Some received only minor injuries.
Police released a photo Tuesday taken from the club’s security camera video. The photo shows a man that police say they would like to talk to.
“We don’t have his identity. He is not a suspect. He is being described as a person of interest. We’d like to identify him so that we can talk to him,” Steve Hegarty with the Tampa Police Department said.
Police believe the man in the photo may have been close to the shooter as he opened fire. “He might have seen something that is of interest to us. Some of the other people we see in the video we have been able to identify. We have not been able to identify this one,” Hegarty said.
Police say they have been able to gather some evidence from the scene and have talked to witnesses. “We have a lot of witnesses. As you might expect, there were so many people there that night, but we also have evidence that we’ve collected at the scene so we are looking at all of those things,” Hegarty said.
So far, police say they haven’t gathered enough evidence to make an arrest, but they are hopeful the man in the photo might be able to provide the information they need to bring the case to a close.
