TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – One victim died, seven more people were injured after shots were fired in the middle of the night at Club Rayne on Nebraska Avenue Saturday, according to Tampa Police.
Officers identified the victim who died as Marvin Douglas Lancaster III, 21, of Brandon.
A Periscope video was shared with WFLA by a Facebook user, which shows the scene inside the club at the times the shots were fired. The video was shot by the Periscope user Lil Marvin.
The club is located at 8123 N. Nebraska Ave. The shots were fired sometime before 2 a.m. One person was killed, six people were taken to hospitals with injuries. One more victim went a hospital himself to be treated for the injuries.
Juno Davis who was inside the club at the time of the shooting selling adult merchandise said it was a stampede after the shots were fired.
“It was like a stampede, people was stepping over each other,” Davis said. “Some people had to go to the hospital for injuries after being stomped.”
She explained that the rules of the club say that everybody is searched every time they go out and come back in. She also said that it wasn’t always busy on Friday nights.
“But this just happened to be one of those night when somebody went crazy,” Juno Davis said.
TPD identified the injured as Restaycia Carnegie, 20, Sheila McFadden, 17, Lancinet Stephens, 20, Equanzick Howell, 28, Jose Humphrey, 32, Christopher Houston, 20, Mekyala Mann, 24. These victims have injuries ranging from minor to very serious.
Nebraska Avenue was closed for traffic until about 7 a.m. while TPD detectives investigated the shooting. Detectives are working on verifying a few leads in this case. They do not have the exact count of how many people were at the club when the shooting happened.
