TPD officer injured in crash pursuing carjacker

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Tampa Police Department officer suffered minor injuries when he crashed his cruiser during a carjacking pursuit on Saturday night.

A TPD police spotted a car that was stolen in an armed carjacking on Friday. Police say the carjacked vehicle was used in 3 robberies.

The officer spotted the car on Saturday night and began following it. The officer lost control of the car and it crashed into a power pole at East Lake Avenue and Central Avenue.

The officer suffered minor injuries. The suspect abandoned the car and is still on the loose.

Air and K-9 units searched for the suspect on Saturday night but did not find him

Power crews came to the area soon after to make sure there was no major damage to the pole.
