St. Pete accident kills woman using motorized wheelchair

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – A 43-year-old woman using a motorized wheelchair was hit and killed Tuesday night in St. Petersburg.

Police say around 9:25 a.m., a Lexus Sedan driven by William McKinley Puller was southbound on 31st Street when a pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair, Suzette Crain, was traveling eastbound on 26th Avenue South just outside the marked pedestrian crosswalk.

The left front of the Lexus struck the left rear of the scooter, sending Crain into the left front fender, then onto the pavement, police say.

Puller stopped his Lexus on the south side of the intersection and was uninjured. Crain was pronounced deceased at the scene.
