HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – After firefighters put out the fire at their home on Little Park Drive, the family of two realized that they had lost all their possessions.

Yllonda Diaz and her 11-year-old grandson Khalin had nothing left after the fire. The home was a total loss. But Hillsborough deputies Carlos Brito, Joshua Spear, and Tanner Barnes decided they could help out the family.

The deputies pitched in their own money to buy t-shirts, pants, underwear, socks, school uniforms, a backpack, and a new bicycle for Khalin. Walmart and Publix donated gift cards for the grandmother to buy food and other things they need.

Tampa Bay American Red Cross is also helping the family after the fire.
