TECO workers helping NC after storm hits

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Crews from Tampa Electric are heading to Charlotte, North Carolina to help restore power once a big winter storm hits the area Thursday night. TECO is sending 250 people for up to two weeks.teco

The winter storm is developing and heading toward the Eastern Seaboard. It could produce freezing rain, ice, and snow.

Airlines are already warning travelers flights could be affected.

In North Carolina, road crews are already spraying brine on bridges and roads. They are also stocked up on sand and salt. TECO is part of a group of electric companies that assist each other during emergencies. The utility company in North Carolina will pay for TECO’s help.
