TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – “Star Trek” actor George Takei is scheduled to speak at the University of South Florida Sun Dome at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 18. Tickets go on sale Oct. 2.

Takei is also an activist. His “story goes where few stories have gone before. From a childhood spent with his family wrongfully imprisoned in a Japanese Internment Camp during World War II to becoming one of the country’s leading figures in the fight for social justice, Takei remains a powerful voice on issues ranging from politics to pop culture,” USF said.

The event is part of the Frontier Forum lecture series. Previous Frontier Forum speakers include Jane Goodall, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michio Kaku and Rory Kennedy.

Up to 3,000 USF students will be admitted for free. Reserve a seat through your USF Student Ticketing Account starting on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
