Man who threw baby across room into TV cabinet sentenced

POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – The man who threw a baby girl across the room into a TV cabinet pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15 years Thursday in Polk County, according to the Polk Sheriff’s Office.

Christopher Finlayson, 26, was arrested in June 2014. According to PCSO, he had an 11-month-old girl in his care that summer. The girl was taken to a hospital with two fractured wrists, five broken ribs and skull fractures on both sides of her head.

Finlayson told the girl’s mother and the sheriff’s detectives different stories about how she had got all her injuries, before finally confessing to “losing it” when the girl was crying. According to PCSO, he threw the baby across the room and into the TV cabinet.

The girl managed to recover after an extensive medical treatment.

Finlayson pleaded guilty to the Aggravated Child Abuse and was sentenced to 15 years in the state prison.
