PALM HARBOR, FL (WFLA) – Pinellas deputies are looking for the man who purchased wedding bands from a seller on Craigslist paying for them with the money orders that weren’t valid.
The victim was selling her wedding bands on Craigslist. She agreed to meet with the suspect at the parking lot of the Seabreeze Plaza Shopping Center to show him the rings. After taking a look at them, he decided to buy them and gave the victim Amscot money orders as payment.
When he left, she contacted Amscot and it turned out the money orders were not valid. The woman called police.
Detectives with the Burglary/Pawn unit at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are looking for this grand theft suspect who is described as white male, possibly mid to late 30s, muscular build, bald head, facial hair (a goatee), approximately 5 feet 7 to 9 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black graphic t-shirt with a thick gold chain around his neck. The suspect identified himself as “Tony” deputies said.
He was seen driving an older model white Chrysler 200.
