Cargo collapses, kills worker at Port of Tampa

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Deputies have identified the man killed in a Port of Tampa accident Friday morning. Joseph Lammlein, 45, was working at 5740 Pembroke Road.

Around 10:10 a.m., he was working as the front end loader when sulfur shifted. An avalanche of sulfur caused the victim “to be encased,” deputies said.

Employees and deputies tried to dig the victim out. The deputies were treated for exposure at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
