Motorcyclist slams into side of deputy’s car

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) — A 20-year-old motorcyclist is in the hospital fighting for his life after hitting the side of an unmarked Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office car Tuesday night in St. Petersburg.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Joe Miner was leaving Dunkin Donuts at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday when he pulled out of the parking lot onto Martin Luther King Junior Street North in front of motorcyclist Eli Ulibarri, who was heading South. Ulibarri tried to stop but hit the patrol car on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ulibarri was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Investigators don’t believe speed or alcohol was a factor.
