VIRAL: Couple survives crash, shares photo in recovery

NASHVILLE, TN (WFLA) – A young couple survived a car crash on a Tennessee roadway and shared a photo of their reunion at the hospital after the crash on Facebook, according to CNN. The photo and the story of the survival some call miraculous has gone viral.

It happened on New Year’s Day when they were driving home and neither Arika Stovall, a graphic design student at Lipscomb University nor her boyfriend, Hunter Hanks remembered how exactly it happened. Hanks’ Toyota Tundra hit a bridge pillar at the speed of about 85 miles per hour, according to Stovall’s post.

Both survived the crash and were taken to a hospital with only minor injuries. The truck was destroyed. While at the hospital, Hanks found a way to find his girl and give her a hug. Someone snapped a picture of the sweet moment and according to CNN, the photo has been seen around the globe. It was shared on Facebook about 100,000 times.

Stovall and Hanks are recovering from their injuries. Stovall told CNN she didn’t expect the photo to go viral but is happy that so many people have been touched by it.

“I mean, we’ve gotten hundreds of messages just telling us that our story brought them out of a dark place in their life and changed their life and it changed their life,” Stovall said.
