TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Tampa Bay area residents can finally break out the long sleeves and even light jackets Saturday. Dozens of runners hit Bayshore Blvd in the morning. Some in jackets and long pants, others still shirtless.
“For Saturday we will have a high temperature of 68 degrees,” Storm Team Eight Meteorologist Bryan Bennett said. “We just had the warmest December on record. Dropping down to the average temperature actually makes it feel quite cold. The average for this weekend is 70 degrees.”
Most people appreciated the change, including 5-year-old Daisey Nundy who likes to fly kites.
“I’m wearing my jacket so it’s kind of warm but on parts where my jacket isn’t, it’s a little cold,” Daisey said. “I like it when it’s mild.”
Austin Lindhorst, from New Port Richey, spent the morning running on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa.
“This is wonderful,” Lindhorst said. “It’s been hot lately and sweaty it’s a nice change.”
If you like the cooler temperatures, you’re in luck. Bennett says Sunday will have a high of 61 degrees, the coolest temperature we have had since February of 2015.
