Tampa ranked 14th best place in U.S. to own a home

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – A home improvement website has recently ranked Tampa as the 14th best place in the United States in which to own a home.

According to Porch.com, Tampa is a desirable place to live because of its warm climate, tax fairness, and economic opportunity. Porch.com says they surveyed over 10,000 homeowners across all 50 states to determine where the best place in America is to own a home.

“Our economy has completely changed from ten years ago,” said real estate agent James Falcon. “We’ve got a booming economy.”

8 On Your Side learned real estate confidence also makes the Bay Area an exceptional place to buy. Falcon says the market has taken off recently and will likely only get better.

“You look at all of our northerners coming down to Tampa. Our favorable climate. Our favorable business practices. You can’t really get any better,” he said.

Joe Fiorello recently bought a place on Harbor Island. He lived in South Tampa for nearly 20 years. “I think this is going to be the place to be,” Fiorello said. “Between the weather. It’s still cost-efficient and compared to other big cities downtown.”

Cities with similar rankings to Tampa include Orlando, Atlanta and Las Vegas. Denver was considered the best place in the country for homeowners.
