SWAT teams respond to Tampa apartments looking for man

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — A SWAT situation in a Tampa neighborhood is over after units responded to the North Boulevard Apartments Tuesday morning looking for a suspect who took off during a traffic stop.

Tampa police say they did a pat-down with the unknown male around 12:30 a.m. during a traffic stop finding a firearm when the subject took off running. Around two blocks away, they observed him running to one of the apartments.

Police searched the apartment which they thought the male was in, however he is still at large and the firearm was not recovered.

The North Boulevard Homes are about 50 percent vacant, they evacuated nearby tenants to search the homes for the suspect.

Police are unsure how the suspect escaped the area. The search is ongoing.
