Good Samaritans repair Riverview charity worker’s roof

RIVERVIEW, Fla. (WFLA) — Anita De Biase cooks meals for the homeless through THORN Ministries. From a backyard building, she makes enough for 150 people, but sometimes feeds a lot more.

When the building’s roof began leaking, De Biase began to worry about mold and mildew.

“When you have food, and clothing, you want to keep it neat and clean. That’s really important,” she explained.

She mentioned her problem to a fellow volunteer, Hedy Sacco. Sacco happens to work for ABC Supply and knew she could help. She got her company to donate materials and pay for the labor.

“I’m just so appreciative of them,” she said.

De Blaise is grateful. Her faith and life experiences taught her to be thankful for what she has. It also motivates her to help others. De Blaise is from Germany and lived through WWII.

“I was a refugee in my own country, which was kind of sad,” she explains, “We didn’t have anything to eat. We had no food.”

The roof repairs are only taking a day, so De Biase can again focus on food.

“I’ve been blessed by the Lord. And I just wish everybody could have a little bit of that, themselves,” she said.
