WATCH: Giant ‘deep sea’ squid swims in Japan

Incredible video shows a very rare visitor to shallow coastal waters. A giant squid was seen in a marina at Japan’s Toyama Bay on Christmas Eve.

Normally, these enormous creatures are found only in the deep ocean. The diver who shot the video estimated the mollusk was nearly four meters long — that’s about 13 feet. The squid eventually made its way away from the marina and out to sea. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
