Amazon launches ‘Handmade’ store for small businesses

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Throughout the holiday season we’ve seen a lot of unique small businesses bubble to the surface, many that originate in Tampa Bay. Now small business owners can launch their ideas into a new shopping stratosphere, thanks to e-commerce giant Amazon.

“You have the brand power of Amazon and also the great searchability,” said Laura Glover, of Burlap & Boards. Glover up-cycles discarded wood pallets into masterpieces, and they are now available on the newly launched Handmade at Amazon.

The ecommerce giant is helping one of a kind business entrepreneurs fast track their success.

“It’s all about getting your name out there, I have neighbors that don’t even know I do this in my driveway,” said Glover.

Amazon heavily vets businesses before welcoming then to the invite only community of vendors. Once you’re on board though, the reach it tremendous.

“It’s great, and it puts you out nationally. I can ship things all the way to Hawaii and Alaska,” said Glover.
