Post-Christmas travelers flock to Tampa International Airport

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— After a long Christmas weekend celebrating with family and friends, thousands of people will be heading back home throughout the day on Sunday, one of the busiest days of the holiday travel season.

The holiday travel rush lasts from December 23 to January 3 and early mornings and weekends are often the busiest times, according to Tampa International Airport.

AAA predicts more than 100 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home throughout the holidays.

With thousands of people traveling at the same time, airport terminals will be packed, so if you are packing up and traveling on Sunday, airport officials in Tampa advise that you arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight.
