Teen killed, another injured in drive-by shooting

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – Police identified one of the victims of the fatal shooting that happened Saturday evening in St. Petersburg.

The shooting, which involved two 17-year-old male victims occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of 3rd Ave. South. Both teens were transported to the hospital, where one later died as a result of his wounds. The second victim is in stable condition and does not appear to have life-threatening wounds.

The victim who died was identified as Jaquez Eugene Jackson, 17. Officials didn’t release the name of the surviving victim because of the on-going investigation.

The shooting is still under investigation, but investigators believe that the two teens were passengers in a car when a second vehicle pulled up next to them and opened fire. The teens were then dropped off in an alley behind 4130 3rd Ave. South.

The car that they were in at the time of the shooting was later recovered at a different location. A motive for the crime is still under investigation.
