Street reopens after suspicious package is investigated

SARASOTA, FL (WFLA) – A report of a suspicious package was investigated in Sarasota Saturday.

The report about a suspicious package at the Hap’s Cycle Sales store came in before 9 a.m. The store is located at 2530 17th St. According to SPD, the employees at the store noticed the package at the nearby parking lot and called 911. A Sarasota Police officer who responded to the call determined that the package was suspicious enough to require a call out for the Explosive Materials Unit with the Sarasota PD.

The unit has investigated the package and found no explosive.

Officials have reopened 17th Street between Euclid Avenue and Lime Avenue.
