ZEPHYRHILLS, FL (WFLA) — A Tampa woman was arrested for leaving the scene of a pedestrian crash that killed a man in Zephyrhills on Christmas Eve.

Florida Highway Patrol says 31-year-old Lorena Gonzalez was driving her Jeep SUV northbound on State Road 39 near Pattie Road in Pasco County when they say 76-year-old Nicholas Panessidi walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck. Panessidi suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

FHP says Gonzalez left the scene of the crash and went to her home in Tampa where troopers later located her and her vehicle. She was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal crash involving death.

FHP says alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
