Deputies take ‘emaciated’ horses from Manatee County home

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Manatee County deputies received a call Tuesday afternoon about emaciated horses in Myakka City. Deputies responded to the scene around 2:00 p.m. and found the horses.

Criminal charges are pending for the owners, Heather and Rico Morin.

Law enforcement has been to the home before. “This time the horses were in the worst shape seen by the deputies,” the sheriff’s office said.

The horses were seized.
