WATCH: Pet pig rescued from manhole

ATLANTA, GA (WFLA) – A pet pot-bellied pig named Rick “Bacon” Ross had quite an adventure together with his owner at the bottom of the manhole in Atlanta, NBC reports.

The pig went missing last Wednesday. His owner Latoria Middleton was looking for him for two days. She found the pig safe and sound at the bottom of a manhole. It wasn’t clear how long he had stayed there.

She called the county’s animal control but they didn’t come to help the pig. Then the woman climbed down to the hole to comfort her beloved animal. She said she’d stay there until somebody comes and rescues them both.

Finally, Atlanta Fire and Rescue crews arrived and pulled them both out. Middleton said the pig was in pretty good shape after the fall, maybe a little hungry and thirsty. She explained that she’d never leave Rick “Bacon” in that hole because he was a part of her family.
