Person of interest named in teen murder case

Drew Allen Reed, 27

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – St. Petersburg Police detectives are now looking for a person of interest in the murder of a teenager.

Someone shot and killed Tyler Lord early Thursday morning in the alley behind a home on 16th Street South.  A woman who lives two doors down, didn’t want to give her name, but said she heard the gunfire.

“I heard the gunshots and I heard a car speeding through the alley,” she said from her back porch.  “You heard the car speeding.  And the couple of gunshots.”

Since that early morning shooting, St. Petersburg Police Spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez says tips have been pouring in.

“We had, just a number of tips that came in. I know in my office I had at least 80 tips come in after the shooting…”  Fernandez said.  “And from all of those tips we were able to develop this person of interest. ”

Police are now looking for 27-year-old Drew Allen Reed, a convicted felon who may have information about what happened.  “We have reason to believe that he was at the location of the shooting and that he had a firearm. So he is a convicted felon.  He’s not supposed to have a firearm period.”  Said Fernandez.  “But we are interested in talking to him about what exactly happened. ”
