Fatal truck crash closes I-75 in Hernando

BROOKSVILLE, FL (WFLA) — Crews in Hernando County are investigating a fatal crash involving two trucks on I-75 in Brooksville Tuesday morning.

Hernando County Fire Rescue crews responded to the crash at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday on I-75 at SR 50, in the area of mile marker 302. First units arrived on scene to find a box truck into the rear of a semi-trailer with heavy damage. The driver of the box truck sustained fatal injuries, while the semi driver was uninjured.

I-75 northbound was temporarily shut down, until one lane could safely be opened to allow the heavily backed up traffic to proceed slowly past the accident scene. At this time, one northbound lane remains closed.

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
