Road closes after hole opens in Citrus County

INVERNESS, Fla. (WFLA) – A hole 20-feet wide by 20-feet deep has opened at 3464 S Stroud Terrace in Inverness. The hole is in front of homes.

Officials say they can’t call the hole a sinkhole until the state assesses the site. That will likely happen Saturday.

The road is currently blocked off. Residents can enter the community through other streets.

No homes were evacuated.
